"How to" for "Enigma2 by The_Ripper & co."
...by me...
Preparation:
A) For each of my networked devices I
reserve an IP address in my
router. So, for your AZbug HD you should have something like: 192.168.x.x. This could be in router's --> Setup --> Network Settings --> Add DHCP Reservation --> DHCP Reservation List should give you the address to work with. Write it down, just in case.
B) Download The_Ripper's Enigma2 package and unpack it on your PC. Install the included AZUp programme to your PC.
Also download the new dvbdriver.rar package to your PC. Unpack it, also.
One more: em8634dvb.rar. As above.
Oh, there is Damir's enigma2-plugin-dd-webif-grab_0.1_mipsel.rar, too! Also, do as above...
C)
Format a USB memory stick [FAT32] and put the Enigma2 patch.bin file by The_Ripper on it - nothing else, just patch.bin.
D) Use FileZilla Client to
drag & drop DISK2 & PLUGINS folders from AZbug HD to your PC. We call that "BACK UP"... All your "removable" data will be saved: channel list and so on in DISK2 and all the "plug-ins", so restoring it all back to full functionality, as good or bad as it is with "original FW" will be a breeze!
E) Now, we need to
clean the machine, wherever and however we can:
- HOME --> Settings --> Data Reset --> [0000 for password, unless you changed it]
- Delete all channels -->
- Delete all plugins ->
- Factory setting.
F) The machine will reboot, then. Wait 'till it comes back up, then switch it off using your remote, remove any USB devices you might have plugged into your AZ HD, then switch it off --> at the back, too!
LET'S PUT THE E2 INTO AZbug HD:
1) Put the USB memory stick with E2 by The_Ripper into AZ HD. Switch it on at the back.
2) Choose the "Upgrade from USB stick" option. Wait untill it's finished.
2a) Do NOT remove the memory stick from AZbug HD!!!
3) Note your AZbox HD IP address on the AZbug HD LED. Check if it's the same as you had before...
4) Start AZUp application on your PC, put in the AZbug HD IP address [add to the filed with red numbers], then click on Update button on AZUp.
5) The programming in AZbug HD will now go on for a while. Wait! A messages on your PC will appear: "Remove USB stick and reboot". Remove the USB stick and wait a bit... You will see some numbers on AZbug HD LED, plus a couple of cogs moving on your TV screen. When you see 100 - it's done. Close the little message wndow on your PC and AZUp.
6) Press the MENU [not HOME] button on your remote.
7) Start FileZilla Client and put in your
-IP address [192.168.x.x], then
-root, then
-azbox,
-port 21 and
-hit Quickconnect button.
8) Go to /lib/modules/2.6.22.19-19-the_ripper/extra/ --> delete the em8634dvb.ko file.
8a) Put the new one to the same library, from DVB Driver package on your PC.
8b) In the same package there is a bootup file, too. Replace the old one from /etc/init.d.
8c) Reboot, holding the red power button on your remote for some 4-5 seconds.
9) Do the same thing again but this time from the file named em8634dvb.rar published today, 4th October 2010.
10) Place Damir's enigma2-plugin-dd-webif-grab_0.1_mipsel.ipk in
[FONT="] -->
[/FONT]/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/WebInterface folder of your AZbug with E2...
11) Reboot.
At this point I only got Geeko :P on AZbug HD display. No way to get into E2... So, I re-did E2.
Steps:
- 1
- 4
- 5 - removed the USB stick and pressed the red button on my remote to reboot
- the cogs appeared on my TV screen, the numbers on the AZ HD LED went to 100
- pressed MENU button and got the E2 Main Menu
- 9 this time, then 8b and then reboot
Geeko :P again... Nothing, nada, zilch, zero, nula, nista, jebi ga...
Suggestion: make a proper package, guys. So nothing needs replacing and mucking about... Test it a bit.
I'll write the "HOW TO" because what was published the first time round was really counter-productive. It takes patience not on write the E2 but also how to use it...
Then publish it... :D
Good work! Now, make it work, please...
