Hi all,

Sorry I only know English and Turkish:)

Latest KGD is a great image and I'll never come back to a image without KGD. Huge thanks to all KGD team:okb:

I've two questions, any help in English will be really appriciated

1- I have a problem with the Azbox firmware that latest KGD is built on. SD channel image quality with 4385 is worse than current builts. An improvement made by opensat in the newer firmwares and this can be seen in the fw.azupd.com log. SD channel image quality is very important for me so I want to transfer KGD Panel to newer firmware. But I do not know it is possible or not? Is it enough simple moving Plugins and MMP folder?

2-Another problem is related KGD funtions related with HDD (backup, swap file). They all give some error message like "HDD no encontrado". But there is an internal HDD mounted on hdb1 which is visible in main KGD Panel (left side, disk space area).

Regards...

Hi,

I think that is imposible to move like a program the KGD panel to other firmware, unless the creators do it. This is because they port their work to the firmware. But as I know, if the new firmware is stable enough, they will make a new firmware based in the official one.

About the other question is because the hdd must be formatted to ext3.

Hi,

Thanks for the answers.

For 1: That's really bad news if so ?

For 2: my HDD is formatted as ext3 (formated it with azbox at official firmware)

Try to format it with the kgd firmware. I'm not sure, but I think that the official firm only formats in ext2.

I just looked at the swap_init.sh script in panel_kgd directory. It checks only /dev/hda2, not hdb1? So I think swapping function will never work with an internal HDD? Could anyone explain me why? Why this can be only with an external (USB) HDD?

swap_init.sh works well, provided that your USB or HDD formatted in ext3

Código:
MMP[~]$ mount
rootfs on / type rootfs (rw)
/proc on /proc type proc (rw,nodiratime)
/dev/mtdblock5 on /DISK1 type jffs2 (ro,noatime)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw)
tmpfs on /tmp type tmpfs (rw)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
/dev/hda1 on /MMP type ext3 (ro,data=ordered)
/dev/hda3 on /DISK2 type ext3 (rw,data=ordered)
/dev/hda4 on /Download type ext3 (rw,data=ordered)
/dev/hdb1 on /DATA/hdb1 type ext3 (rw,data=ordered)
/dev/hdb1 on /PLUGINS type ext3 (rw,data=ordered)
/dev/hdb1 on /opt type ext3 (rw,data=ordered)

MMP[~]$ free
total used free shared buffers
Mem: 100484 93868 6616 0 4668
Swap: 131064 26072 104992
Total: 231548 119940 111608
MMP[~]$

I'll reformat my HDD today when go home. Now just have a question about ext3. After googling about ext3 I found these:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_difference_between_ext2_and_ext3 : Says ext3 is (safer but) slower than ext2 ?
http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/show_single_post?pid=36136977&postcount=9 : Says recording with ext3 on azbox is horrible

As far as I understood ext3 is recommended format by KGD team. So should I assume that with this KGD image, ext3 was just "a litle bit" slower than ext2 and recording with ext3 was working as ext2 with no difference?

Regards....

Although it may seem slower, is more robust in terms of loss of data, OPENSAT insert ext2, because They had no way to improve transfer and thought they solved, but the problem is not this, but its kernel is very bad structured

You use EXT3 as we recommend and can enjoy all the options available panelkgd

Thanks Fundifun,

By the way, I've found a second problem other than the SD channel image quality. .sub subtitles cannot be detected with the player and even with the file browser. I converted .sub to .srt and watched the movie. I think 4348 is a really problematic firmware :(

Dear KGD Team,
Could you please try to make a portable KGD version that we can move between firmwares. Is it possible. This will be so great...

If you're at it, pending submission of OPENSAT, but everyone would lose the EPG since the last beta OPENSAT published, does not support reading EPG

Hi,

I've found a new silly 4348 bug. After switching cable connection to WiFi and then switch back to cable connection again and changing IP settings as I always do, setting the "Gateway IP" has no effect, and it always reverts back to "0.0.0.0". This blocks internet conection :( Tried this thousends times, tried DHCP, tried azbox and adsl modem reboots and lots of other things that I can imagine. I cannot solve it and unfortunately had to turn back official 4487 which has reboot problems, but this seems better than 4348.

KGD Panel is a GREAT enhancement, but 4348 is not my cup of tea :(

Waiting your third release on a better firmware base. Thanks for all your precious efforts.

Hello, we have always indicated that they do not have to use DHCP, since the beta OPENSAT, is faulted.

You have to configure static IP and DNS pointing to the ip of the router.

Once done, simply turn off and turn on the receiver for it to memory.

We did not touch anything in the general soft, we can only add as is the case panelKGD or Takecontrol

Hi ,

I think there is a confusion, I always use static IP, but this time it did not work, it always reverted back to 0.0.0.00 even after a clean reboot. Azbox didn't take my router IP to its memory. I just only tried DHCP as a last chance but didn't work, either. I know this is not exactly KGD bug, it is absolutely a OpenSat bug.

Ok hope to move soon to a new version and fix this bug if it still persists.

Do you use the EPG?, If so, send your channels.map for inclusion in the new version, for automatic search of their favorite epg

Hi Fundifun,

As far as I know, EPG is not supported for Turkish channels. So I simply deleted epg start entry in /DISK2/etc/start.d and not using EPG. If it is possible to support EPG for Turkish channels, I can prepare it for including in next KGD release.

now we can only provide the EPG in this database.

You can try asking to put in that channel base, the platform Digiturk, which I guess is what interests him.
