E2 Vs OPENSAT

pues para los que esteis testeando el nuevo firm estaria bien que comentaseis la experiencia de las cosas que funcionan y las diferencias que encontrais.

Por ejemplo algo asi :

E2 :
Multimedia = ok (aqui podemos poner si reproduce o no cierto tipo de archivo)
Zaping = ok ( lento a rapido?)
Grabaciones= ko ( si graba o no HD?)
Picons= ok ( 3D?)
Epg = ko
camd = ok ( tipo de camd que funciona y cual no?)
Brownser= ko (mejor o peor que el anterior?)
Wifi= ko ( es estable?)

(tan solo son ejemplos yo no la he probado)

Esta lista la podeis extender para asi sacar las posibilidades que nos ofrece este firm aunque aun es muy pronto .

lo he comentado en el hilo del ultimo firm el 1.0.27 pero lo pongo aqui mas claro
E2 :
Multimedia = ok (los archivos de alto bitrate como la prueba que hay en este foro se los bebe sin problemas)
Zaping = ok ( mas rapido que opensat?)
Grabaciones= no he probado aun
Picons= sin probar
Epg = ok el evento actual y el siguiente del canal visualizado
camd = sin probar ( mbox 4 pero no se donde van los archivos. en la dream iban en la carpeta keys?)
Brownser= ok
Wifi= no testado

Yo acabo de probarlo, y funciona bien, excepto que no se oyen los canales. Cuando le da la gana se oyen, aunque casi siempre es no. Sabeis que puede ser? o es un problema generalizado?

De momento, el audio no funciona bien:

¿Los mkv van mejor que con el firm de opensat?

Vamos a ver, yo solo he probado el mediaplayer con 4 archivos.

Un avi normalito que lo lee sin problemas.
Otro avi que al minuto se le va el sonido y se queda mudo.
Y dos mkv que a veces se desincroniza el audio con la imagen y en uno de ellos a los dos minutos se queda mudo o se bloquea. Ademas, ambas peliculas tienen dos pistas de audio, en la que parece que no se bloquea solo me aparece una pista de audio y que para mas Inri es frances, y en la otra aparecen las dos pero por defecto se pone siempre en la primera que casualmente es ingles y si intento cambiarla a español se queda bloqueado.

Bueno, ahora que ha ido avanzando un poco el tema del E2, tengo una pregunta. ¿Como responde el E2 con el tema multimedia, sobretodo para ver mkv? Es lo único que me hacer dudar para cambiar al E2, ya que sigo con opensat.

Pues todos los que e probado yo que son los mismos que probe con firm opensat, en e2 mucho mejor no tengo parones excepto en una pero mucho mejor que cuando la visionaba con opensat.

OFW 5306 v. E2

OFW:

Multimedia = OK for most file types but not OK with high bitrate, demanding files, with high data throughput, because of the OFW LAN capacity ceiling (because OFW is full of bugs and loaded, hence we call it Bloatware)

Zaping = KO (slow)

Recordings = KO (I tried to NAS via LAN and new, fast and large USB memory stick, with poor results)

Picons = wouldn't know it's possible in OFW

EPG = work, thanx to Morser's GetEPG 2.5 but that is a bit slow and tasking and slows down the machine (nothing to do with Morser but OFW's bugs and overloaded nature - hence Bloatware!)

camd = OK but not great, because of "extra layers" or "mediators" (tried them all, all are slower and less stable than in E2)

Browser = KO (unusable, unlike some other receivers, like Amico Alien)

Wifi = ??? (I don't have it)

Mounting - OK (NFS works fine but only using Priority Manager 1.8, mounting all the shared folders; CIFS is just working with OFW built-in tools/scripts!)

HW recognition via USB ports - OK

Teletext - OK!

Remote Control Unit - OK (better than E2, with a proper functionality of all the keys!)

E2 for AZbox HD

Multimedia = KO for most file types (video quickly not in sync with sound, most of the time, some formats not playable, even though they are playable in OFW)

Zaping = OK (fast)

Recordings = ??? (not tried it yet, sorry, due to USB mounting stability problem)

Picons = work

EPG = works

camd = OK (tried OSCam and CCcam)

Browser = ???

Wifi = ??? (don't have it)

Mounting - KO (just 1 folder at a time, in NFS; CIFS not working!)

HW recognition via USB ports - KO {needs better capacity/capability and it must become more stable!)

Teletext - KO (NOT THERE AT ALL!)

Remote Control Unit - KO (needs better mapping and functionality of all the keys!)



Conclusion:

There are some things to be learnt from OFW, when we are talking about an overall superiority of E2 as an Operating System!

OFW is called BloatWare for a reason! E2, however, isn't perfect either...

Sat TV part of E2 is far superior (more capable, versatile, faster and more stable) to that of OFW, even if some parts are missing (Teletext, for instance) or not as good as OFW (channel list and editing it)!

Multimedia part in E2 is not there yet (all must be improved significantly) and E2 could learn a thing or three from OFW (like mounting capabilities)!

Additionally, in OFW internet browser and similar stuff is pretty naff/OFF/piss poor - but it isn't there at all in E2 and some stuff that is there (YouTube) isn't properly sorted yet!

...I would add subtitles issue in E2!

What goes well and can be easily adjusted in OFW (say, playing a movie from NAS or USB stick, with a sub/srt file in the same or different folder), doesn't give me the same results with DDamir's plugin in E2.

DDamir's plugin has greater capability, with searching online for many subs - but it lacks easy, automatic syncing and/or adjusting, like in OFW, of Audio and Visual parts. It can be quite tricky and sometimes close to impossible, if you are not ready with the sub file beforehand, prior to a film commencing...

At least I haven't managed it properly yet...
