You have not understood me. This file named es.po include original english text and spanish translations. Example :

msgid "Recording settings"
msgstr "Ajustes Grabaciones"

First line is original english text. Don't change anything on this line.
Second line is the translation. To translate to italian, delete all spanish text after msgstr and write again in italian language (always between "").

When finish, save file and open it with poedit, then try to compile to .mo.
