If one has an original DOM [256MB only], one should use a USB memory stick in one's AZ!
On the USB [if it is initialised] one should create:
1) 256 MB SWAP file
2) picons folder - tens of MBs of little images [picons] would go there
3) direct CrossEPG to save its files there [XMLTV from Rytec etc.]
4) Damir subtitles plugin should also save its files here [various subs files]
Anything else?!?
=======================
If one has a larger DOM, say 1 or 4 GB one can do it all there...
If one has an HDD [built-in or USB one], one should still direct it all to a fast USB memory stick, NOT to a HDD...
One gets a more stable and faster machine... in theory...
