HOW TO USE FLASH AN ENIGMA2 IMAGE ON THE OPTICUM AX-ODIN USING THE ** FORCE ** METHOD
The Opticum AX-ODIN is a Broadcom based Enigma2 receiver and comes with support from many third party firmware groups. From time to time you may want to re-flash firmware for various reasons, perhaps to re-cover a receiver, change to a different groups firmware or just have a change and play around!
Whatever the reason the good news is the Opticum AX-ODIN is very easy to flash with firmware. Below is a simple generic guide which should cover most any Enigma2 firmware which is specific to the Opticum AX-ODIN
After downloading the desired Enimga2 firmware image from the internet, extract the downloaded *.RAR or *.ZIP file to your computer (this can be saved to anywhere as long as you know where, the Desktop is often a popular choice).
This should result the following files: force, imageversion, kernel.bin, rootfs.bin, splash.bin being inside a folder called en2
THE BELOW NOTE IS IMPORTANT TO CHECK OR THE NEW FLASH WILL NOT WORK
**HINT** keep the force/noforce file names in lower case
*** NOTE IN SOME INSTANCES THERE WILL BE NO force file BUT ONE CALLED noforce –
SIMPLY RENAME noforce TO force BEFORE YOU CONTINUE TO THE NEXT STAGE ***
Format a USB stick (with preferably a capacity of max. 4Gb) to FAT32 file system
1) Copy the “en2” folder to the USB stick
2) Disconnect the USB stick from your PC using the “Remove USB device safely” option
3) Power OFF the Opticum AX-ODIN using the Main Power Switch on the rear panel
4) Plug in the USB stick, and power on the Opticum AX-ODIN
5) The Set-Top Box will automatically recognize the E2 image
6) The upgrade procedure will automatically begin (indicated by 0000 being displayed)
7) After the upgrade is complete the Set-Top Box will reboot and your newly flashed image with boot
8) IMPORTANT: AT THIS POINT IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMOVE THE USB STICK WITH THE FIRMWARE ON FROM THE RECEIVERS USB PORT – OTHERWISE ON NEXT REBOOT THE FIRMWARE WILL RE-FLASHED AGAIN, UNDOING ANY CHANGES THAT HAVE BEEN MADE!
